Mixed category Males and Females

- 1-3 hours per week
- Single sessions maximum of 30 minutes
- To be accompanied in all training sessions by responsible adult & Blue card holder

Training emphasis on skill development, traffic awareness, safety on road etc.

- Time trial, road 3km
- Time trial track 1 lap or 333.3m
- Scratch race track: 1-1.5km
- Sprint track 2 laps

Age 11-12 Years
Junior Under 13
Mixed category Males and Females

- 2-5 hours per week or 40-100km
- no single session longer that 30km or 1.25 hrs
- To be accompanied in all training sessions by responsible adult or a qualified cycling coach & Blue card holder

Training emphasise on skill development, bike handling skills, traffic awareness, safety on road etc
|
- Road race 10-15 km
- Time trial, road 5km
- Criterium: 15 minutes
- Time trial track 500m
- Scratch race track: 2km
- Sprint track 2 laps

Age 13-14 Years
Junior Under 15 categories. Males and Females Separate
|
- 3-8 hours per week or 100-200 km
- No single session longer than 60 km or 2 hrs
- Solo training sessions should be carried out over low traffic circuits close to home
|
Training emphasis a combination of both skill development and physical conditioning, all aspect of the sport
|
Maximum race distance/ time for Road and Track should not exceed those recommended for National Championships competition

Age 15-16 Years
Junior Under 17 Categories, Males and Females separate

- 6-14 hours per week or 150 - 350 km
- No single session longer than 90 km or 3 hours.

Training
emphasis a combination of both skill development and physical
conditioning, all aspect of the sport. Some specificity in training can
begin.

Maximum race distance/ time for Road and Track should not exceed those recommended for National Championships competition

Age 17-18 Years
Junior Under 19 categories. Males and Females separate

- 8 - 18 hours per week or 240 - 550 km.
- No single session longer than 160 km or 5 hours
|
Training emphasis is on physical conditioning, specific to certain events. Skill development is more event specific.
