The current club constitution is a number of years old now. With changes to legislation and other expectations over this time, it has now reached a point where there are a number of issues with it, including those given below.

  • The current constitution does not provide for changes in legislation. As it stands it could allow things to be forced on the club against the wishes of the majority of members.
  • The current constitution is not compliant with the requirements of Cycling Queensland.
  • The way that we have operated aspects of club operations over many years is not as described by the current constitution.

In order to rectify these issues, a new proposed constitution has been written. This is based on the model constitution as given in legislation, as well as incorporating the requirements of Cycling Queensland, and the way that we have operated as a club over a number of years.

At the last club meeting it was decided to put the new constitution to members for adoption through a Special Resolution at the Annual General Meeting.

As such notice is given that a Special Resolution to change the constitution of the Cairns Cycling Club will be part of business at the Annual General Meeting to be held on 9 February, 2010.

Copies of the current and proposed constitutions are available on the website, and hard copies are available for examination at Smith Park.
