| Cairns Juniors Selected for National Titles |

Two Cairns junior cyclists have confirmed their recent state championship form with selection in the Queensland team to contest the National Tiles in Melbourne. Former national medalist Rikki Paraha and Cairns club rookie of the year Kiara Dundas both claimed spots in the under 17 and under 15 categories respectively.
Rikki Paraha overcame a slow start to her track season with strong a strong ride to claim silver in the team Sprint with club mate Tennille Falappi. Paraha is expected to contest the "speed events" of sprint and time trial in Melbourne where she is hoping to go one better than her previous silver from last year.
Kiara Dundas dazzled state selectors with a determined display of courage and tenacity to win the 5km title on debut for Cairns and sealed a place in the the Queensland team as a first year under 15. In a remarkable display of maturity the young cyclist picked up a total of 4 medals and personal best times in the 3 day Brisbane championships.
Cairns Cycling Club Vice President Richie Bates was delighted with the results saying, "Cairns junior women have been at the forefront of the club's sucess in recent years, and I am pleased to say that we are once again looking at bringing home national medals to the far north" he went on, "Full credit to our coaches Peter Hutchinson and Frank McGoldrick who have laid the foundation for this success"
The Australian Junior Track Championships will be held at the DISC Velodrome in Melbourne from the 18th - 20th March.
