GOLDFIELDS TO PARADISE ROAD RACE - Charters Towers to Townsville, Sunday, 9 August, 2009
The Townsville Cycling Club will be holding a race from
Charters Towers to Townsville on Sunday, 9 August. This will be a handicap
event with $3,500 in cash and prizes, including $1,200 for first place, $500
for fastest time, and $200 for the fastest woman. Prize money will be on offer
down to eight place, and there will be random draw prizes at the barbeque
afterwards. Word is that the event will have police escort, and should be a
cracker.
Sunday, 4 July will see the running of the Mareeba Rodeo
Association Handicap. This event used to be called the Ned May, but the name
was changed last year to reflect the support given to the club by the Rodeo
Association over the years.
Once again the Association has put up prize money in support
of the event. The course will be from the Rodeo Grounds, towards Dimbulah and
return. This is a good course, and offers to make for a great race.

laps in. This precipitated an avalanche of copy cats determined to scrape their
pedals and fall over, seemingly unaware of the well known equation:
